04/24/06: Berlin and Brandenburg – turntable for Eastern European contacts
Berlin and Brandenburg define themselves as a turntable between East and West. In doing so, they refer to their long-time experience in regards to co-operations with MOE. An internet data base named MOEPlus, an instrument of the MOE-Initiative of Berlin’s Senate Chamber, shall assist with initialising contacts.
On the website http://www.berlin.de/rbmskzl/europa/europapolitik/moeplus.html all East- West actors of the Berlin and Brandenburg regions have the opportunity to present their competencies in the sphere of co-operation with Central and Eastern European countries, give contact person details and – if others are interested – seek and offer co-operation via a contact platform. This service is free of charge.
Naturally, the website also shows the Berlin members of plan 4 21, such as Rödl & Partner Berlin – the tax consultancy and accounting association that advises enterprises from Berlin and Brandenburg with their Eastern European activities and also assists Eastern European enterprises with their entry into the German market. The association moved a short while ago and meets its clients now at Straße des 17. Juni. There – from the offices at the11th floor – clients can glimpse a picture of the entire city of Berlin.
03/07/06: Mutual General Principle for Berlin and Brandenburg
At present, Brandenburg and Berlin are mutually developing a new General Principle, to position the capital city area of Berlin-Brandenburg as one of Europe’s significant metropolitan regions in international competition, to point out strengths and potentials as well as to present common perspectives for the future. A work draft of the key point paper may already be found at www.metropolregion-berlin-brandenburg.de and is being continuously developed in a public discussion. Two conferences also serve this purpose, where discussions are taking place with international experts, specialists from the region, politicians and stakeholders. The first event took place on March 2nd and 3rd in Berlin and was opened by Berlin’s Urban Development Senator, Mrs. Ingeborg Junge-Reyer and Brandenburg’s Infrastructure Minister, Mr. Frank Szymanski. For the participants, the contributions of the invited guests from Italy, Sweden, Denmark, England, Poland and Austria were of great popularity, in which various points of view concerning metropolitan regions in Europe were introduced.
The General Principle process is being accompanied by planungsgruppe 4 (lead management) and BulwienGesa AG, member of plan 4 21.
